BMW Zagato Roadster at BMW Zagato Roadster Design Explained by Karim Habib

Nobody really paid any serious attention to the BMW Zagato Roadster at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours. That’s partly because the show was so chock-full of awesome supercars and one-offs, and partly because the BMW was not significant enough. It is a roadster version of the Zagato Coupe, and it basically looks like a normal Z4 that’s put on a few pounds! It’s not that interesting to be honest.

We really don’t get the appeal of this car, not even after we listened to BMW Head of Design, Karim Habib, raving about it for two minutes:

One feature of the car we liked was its paintwork. The exclusive exterior paint finish, a brilliant grey with impressive depth, appears to wrap the car’s body in a cloak of liquid metal. Depending on how the light hits the body, the colour spectrum ranges from dark grey to a light silver, bringing the surfaces and forms of the BMW Zagato Roadster to life.
