Mercedes has issued a safety recall for the 2013 Mercedes SL in America to fix an issue with a flammable refrigerant used in the car’s air condition system. It’s not a severe problem, and the number of affected models are small – only 432 units. That said, it’s a bit embarrassing that a brand-new 100 grand German luxury sports car should be recalled.

The problem is that flammable fluid which may leak on the engine compartment in case of a serious crash, ignite due to high temperature and set the whole thing on fire. Mercedes dealers will change the linings which proved to be fragile, and also replace the coolant. It is easily done and will not cost you anything. No European models appear to be affected by this issue.
