Even though the whole world is waiting for Caterham to introduce a new generation of the Seven sports car with Renault engine, the British firm just unveiled a new edition of the car with a 2.0 liter Ford Duratec powertrain from Caterham’s R300 race championship.

They describe this car as a Seven on steroid, even though it still weighs no more than 535 kg. The Supersport R comes as standrd with a limited-slip differential to handle that engine’s power, which is 25 percent more than the Supersport.

Despite what the car’s specs might suggest, the R can be used as an everyday sports car if you want to. It has a windscreen, which is Caterham language is mind-blowing luxury! Alright, so it may not be a good daily driver, but as a track toy, only a few other cars are as good as this geeky machine.

The R is priced at  £24,995 (incl tax) in self-build form or £27,995 fully-built.
