Toyota officially took the wraps off their new Highlander SUV at the New York Auto Show, revealing a handsome car that can make people think twice before ordering a Land Cruiser. It delivers pretty much the same versatility, but it’s way better-looking and refined.

Featuring a large front grille, new head and taillights that remind you of a Lexus, flared wheelarches, and sculpted sills, the Highlander has a very fine design for a family SUV. The large proportions also mean you get tons of space inside the car for the passengers and their luggage.

The new Highlander’s interior utilizes premium materials to offer an upscale experience, with most models featuring standard contrast seat stitching. All Highlanders will come equipped with a soft-touch instrument panel; and silver-painted, satin, and chrome-plated accents. Wood trims, leather wrapped steering wheel, and a large main display are among the highlights of the cabin.

Available convenience features include an Automatic High Beam System, Auto Cruise Control, Smart Key, driver’s seat memory, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row captain’s seats, and a heated steering wheel. New available safety and convenience features include rear parking sonar, Blind Spot Monitor, Lane Departure Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and a Pre-collision System.

As for the powertrains, you can choose between a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine with a six-speed auto, and 3.5-liter V6 mated to an ECT auto with manual shifting. Dynamic Torque Control All-Wheel Drive (AWD) is standard.
