Those of you who remember the glorious footage of Ari Vatanen piloting a Peugeot 405 T16 up the Pikes Peak hill are probably chuffed to bits now that the French car maker has decided to return to the legendary event. This time they are bringing a 208 T16, and the driver in charge is no other than Sébastien Loeb.
So potentially, we can expect another awesome performance by the French team. Loeb’s skills are legendary, and as for the car, while the 208 is yet to prove itself in the motorsport scene, the T16 badge carries too much weight for Peugeot to put it on car that doesn’t perform.
The car is classified in the Unlimited category, so it will definitely get some serious muscle.
Mind you, it won’t be exactly like Ari’s run, as the course has been significantly changed since the 80s. The Pikes Peak Hill Climb’s unique course was entirely asphalted last year. It comprises 156 turns over a distance of 20 kilometers that takes competitors from an altitude of 2,800 meters to 4,300 meters at its highest point.
2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb will be held in Colorado, USA, on 30th June. Unless something catches fire again!
