After his last year’s failed attempt to tackle the legendary hills of Pikes Peak in an electric car, Nobuhiro ‘Monster’ Tajima is back with a gs-powered race car based on the Toyota GT86. The old man has got a lot to do this year, because his environment gesture in 2012 not only cost him the race, but also his record. Millen’s Hyundai smashed Monster’s time by a full 5 second. The Japanese Peak guru seeks revenge.
Tajima’s GT86 is based on the road-going version in the same way that Peugeot’s 208 T16 is related to the docile family hatchback. They only share the badge. This 86 is powered by a turbocharged V6 engine developing 67 horsepower. Impressive, but not as good a what Peugeot has come up with. Their car weighs 875 kg and boasts 875 horsepower, meaning it has a power to weight ratio of 1:1. Tajima’s not happy!
