Lexus will take part in this year’s Pikes Peak hill climb event with the same car they did last year. They didn’t bother coming up with a new car, or at least updating the existing IS F CCS-R. The only new thing about it is a decal that will integrate the names of more than 14,000 Lexus fans.

Lexus has teamed up with Tony Hawk Foundation for this, and asked their fans to enter their names via a response to a Lexus Facebook post, a comment to a Lexus YouTube IS F CCS-R video and through Twitter and Instagram.

You have to say, they made up for the laziness of the engineers by turning the whole thing into a social, publicity gig. Those 14K people who will have their names on the car are going to follow the its performance at the event and cheer for it. So it is fair to say Lexus already has the greatest number of fans at this year’s Pikes Peak.

The IS F CCS-R race car will be driven once again by professional drifter Ken Gushi.
