The wait for the Alfa Romeo 4C has been long, and now that it’s finally ready to be released, you may never have the chance to buy one. Alfa just announced that the production of the 4C is limited to just 3,500 units per year.

European countries will get only 1,000, and the rest of the world will have to fight for the remaining 2,500. It is not the lack of demand that is holding Alfa back, but rather difficulties related to the technical and technological solutions adopted to make the 4C. Alfa Romeo does not enjoy a reputation as a reliable make, which makes this announcement about those ‘solutions’ cause a bit of a worry.

Limited production will also affect the pricing of the Alfa Romeo 4C, which was supposed to be an affordable Italian sports car to rival the likes of Porsche Boxster and BMW Z4. It will probably end up in the same price bracket as the Porsche 911.

Alfa Romeo 4C might be hard to get – and even if you manage to get one, it may not last very long – but rest assured it is going to be well worth the wait and the cost. With a lightweight body, a beautifully simple cabin, and a mid-engine, rear-drive layout that boasts a 240 hp 1750cc engine, the car is an absolute delight to drive.
