The sales of the new SRT Viper have not been entirely satisfactory for the company, even if they don’t admit it. And the new Time Attack version is not likely to do the kitty much good, as it is limited to 159 units, each priced at $123,080. It won’t even cover the cost of developing the car’s special suspension system.
The SRT Viper Time Attack comes in three exclusive colors of crusher range, bright white or venom black, and while the powertrain is the same as the normal Vipers – a 640 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque 8.4 liter V10 unit – the car does get a number of enhancements that make it a lot quicker round the track.
And that is what the SRT Viper Time Attack is all about: track work. It comes with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires which are mounted on ultra-lightweight, multi-spoke Sidewinder II wheels; two-mode Bilstein Damptronic suspension system; carbon fiber structural X-brace; and an aero kit consisting of carbon fiber front splitters and rear spoiler, and a carbon fiber rear applique.
Inside, the performance driver-oriented cabin of the 2014 SRT Viper TA uses the same standard premium ballistic fabric racing seats from Sabelt, featuring a lightweight fiberglass shell created by a state-of-the-art resin transfer molding technology for mass reduction and long-term durability. Both driver and passenger seats can also accommodate a 3- or 6-point harness for racing belts.
