If you always wanted to see a BMW art car up close, here’s your chance. One of the finest examples of BMW art cars, designed in 1995 by David Hockney will be on display at the Paris Photo’ art fair, which despite what the name might suggest, is held at Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles. BMW is an official partner of the event.

The history of BMW art cars dates back to 1975. Each of these cars, and there are seventeen of them, is a showcase the artistic statements of its time. Put them together, and you end up with a sort of visual guide to the historical development of art in the past four decades. The collection includes works by well-known artists such as Frank Stella, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, Jenny Holzer, Olafur Eliasson and Jeff Koons.

The BMW 850CSi Art Car by David Hockney on display at Paris Photo features the artist’s unique style of pop art that was so popular back in the 90s. “It would be good to perhaps show the car so you could be looking inside it”, Hockney commented.

Being a sponsor of the event, BMW will also provide VIP shuttle service and “Close-Up” program, and will display the new i8, a futuristic hybrid sports car that will go on sale later this year.
