This year’s RM Auction event at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance saw a record-breaking deal taking place in which a virtually new 1958 BMW 507 Roadster Series II was sold for $2.4 Million USD. That makes this car one of the most expensive BMW’s in history.

The 507 is among the most desirable classic Roadsters in the world. It basically started BMW’s sports car lineage, spawning the magnificent Z1, the slightly girly Z3, the brilliant but misunderstood Z8, and the virtually flawless, at least in its current iteration, Z4.

The record-breaking 1958 BMW 507 Roadster is an absolute minter with barely 11K miles on the clock. That, and the rarity of the 507, of which only 252 units were ever built, gives the car a unique position and makes it a sound investment, even at that price.

The 597 is powered by a 145 horsepower V8 engine and all of its parts are in original condition.
