Maserati turned up at this year’s New York International Auto Show with a brand-new special edition version of the aging GranTurismo. It is called the MC Centennial edition, and as the name suggests, it pays homage to the brand’s 100-year history with special interior and exterior appointments.

Available as both coupe and convertible, Maserati GranTurismo MC Centennial comes in seven special, three-layered colors, four special finishes for the MC and Trofeo designs, and a range of new wheel designs. There is also a medal-shaped centenary logo, itself available in two finishes, matte Smoke grey and Charcoal grey, to match the rest of the car.

The interior features tons of fine Italian leather with contrasting decorative inserts and special motif in the headrests and embroidered Trident logo. You get leather upholstery in black or white leather seats and dashboard with Inchiostro or Santorini Blue inserts and stitching, plus carbon fiber inserts on the dashboard, seat surrounds and a kick plate with celebratory centenary logo.

Technically, Maserati GranTurismo MC Centennial is the same as the normal MCs, meaning you get a 4.7 liter V8 engine with 475 horsepower, mated to a ZF 6-speed Automatic transmission which is not very good to be honest. Still, you can hit 185 mph in this car, and when it comes to stopping and handling, you have the dual cast Brembo brakes and sport-tuned MC suspension to help you with it.

Sales of the GranTurismo MC Centennial edition will begin in July 2014.
