A 5-door model will join the 2015 MINI Cooper range from October, offering a more practical variant of the iconic British hatchback. It is for the first time in MINI’s history that a five-door version is launched but BMW, the people who make the MINI, believes it is going to outsell the three-door.

Besides having two additional doors, the 2015 MINI Cooper 5-Door offers more space than the 3-door version. The wheelbase is expanded by 72 millimetres and the body lengthened by 161 millimetres, while the luggage compartment space is 67 litres larger, up to 278 litres, expandable to 941 litres thanks to 60:40 split rear seats.

2015 MINI Cooper 5-Door will launch towards the end of the year with four engines. There is the Cooper with 3-cylinder 136 hp petrol; the Cooper S with 192 hp 4-cylinder petrol; the Cooper D 5-door with 116 hp 3-cylinder diesel; and the Cooper SD with a new 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel developing 170 hp.

Being a family-oriented car, the 5-Door Cooper comes with technology features suited for the job, such as Driving Assistant, a camera-based active cruise control, collision and pedestrian warning with initial brake function, high beam assistant, road sign detection, Parking Assistant and rear view camera. It also gets MINI Connected XL Journey Mate and full smartphone integration.
