This year at the Cash & Rocket Tour 70 high-profile inspirational ladies completed 1600 miles over 3 days in a parade of luxury and vintage cars, including six red Maseratis, and collected funds for three non-profit organisations in Africa: Shine On Sierra Leone, Orphan Aid Africa in Ghana and Sumbandila in South Africa.
The goal was to eclipse last year’s record of £178,000, which the ladies managed, by a large margin. The official figure is yet to be announced, but a provisional look has put the total sum gathered at over £776,000.
Among the big names attending the rally there were Valentino Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri, jewellery designer Betony Vernon, Italian Vogue Editor Franca Sozzani and Galeries Lafayette Fashion Director, Averyl Oates. Topshop Heiress Chloe Green and co-pilot Kate Ryan raised the most money this year at £217,787.
The most exquisite items offered at the charity auction were a pair of David Morris rose-cut diamond earrings and a one-of-a-kind Valentino gown designed by Co-Creative Directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli which sold for an incredible £110,000.
