As we get closer to the 2014 Paris Motor Show in September, more and more information about the biggest highlight of the show, the Mercedes AMG GT, trickle down from sources in Affalterbcah and Stuttgart. This time we can bring you the official sketches of the car, revealing the looks of AMG GT almost in full.
Mercedes AMG GT is, in essence, a scaled-down SLS. So as you’d expect the profile is pretty much identical to the old super car with a long bonnet, short boot, and low roof. The car looks very athletic what with that sculpted bonnet, flared wheel arches, and wheels pushed out to the corners.
Designed from the beginning to be a proper sports car, Mercedes AMG GT boasts a huge amount of aluminum in its construction. That helps keeping the weight down to 1,600 kg. It’s not a featherweight, but that’s pretty good for a GT with a big V8 engine.
True, the new 4.0 liter bi-turbo V8 engine, known internally as the ‘Hot V’ is nothing as big and mighty as the discontinued 6.2 liter in the SLS. But it makes 510 horsepower in S guise, and that’s enough to give a 1.6 ton car serious performance.
AMG’s first true sports car will be unveiled to the public on September 9, but rest assured we will get to see it in full glory sooner than that. Stay tuned!
