Optimistic Korean automaker SsangYong is still hoping to make it into the big leagues in Europe the same way Kia and Hyundai did. This is what they are proposing to continue their efforts with, the SsangYong Tivoli crossover, slated to mid-2015 launch.
Now, the SsangYong enthusiasts among you will notice that the Tivoli is the production version of what we’ve been seeing as the XLV concept over the past three years at every major motor show. It is a good thing that SY has finally got around making it, if just for the fact that all the effort spent on all those concepts has not been in vain.
Detailed specs of SsangYong Tivoli are yet to be revealed, but the first impressions are good. The crossover looks refreshingly different from the established norm in this class, and it is apparently chockfull advanced features, especially in terms of connectivity technologies. The hybrid powertrain in the concept version is not likely to make it into the production model.
As for the name, Tivoli, it is the name of an Italian town near Rome with a reputation for style. The Tivoli will go on sale in Korea in January and globally during the second quarter of 2015.
