Years ago on Top Gear, which these days weirdly seems like a distant good memory, Jeremy Clarkson drove a Land Rover Discovery up a steep mountain in Scotland. Now the Germans have staged a similar challenge to promote the Mercedes G63 6×6 AMG.
The mountain they chose to conquer is a rocky cliff in Tuscany and not a muddy, grassy place like the one Jezza took on. And Mercedes G63 6×6 has two wheels and axles more than the Disco; all of which make this effort not that impressive. Not that the 6×6 is not a capable car, but you know, they could have done better:
Mercedes G63 6×6 AMG Key Highlights: AMG V8 biturbo engine with 400 kW (544 hp) and 760 Nm of torque; AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission; Six driven wheels; Off-road low-range ratio in the transfer case; Portal axles; Five differential locks; Tyre-pressure control system; 37-inch tyres; 15 different spring rates.
