Audi’s one-off show car for this year’s Wörthersee GTI Meeting is a Clubsport take on the new generation TT. Inspired by the Audi 90 IMSA GTO race car of the 80s, Audi TT Clubsport is the ultimate expression of what this little sports car can be.
And what it can be is a vicious and naughty looking performance machine with a lot of attitude and a huge turn of speed. Audi TT Clubsport is powered by a 2.5 TFSI engine featuring an electric twin-turbo system which helps it generate 441 kW (600 hp) of power and 650 Nm (479.4 lb-ft) of torque.
With the help of a six-speed manual gearbox, that power takes Audi TT Clubsport from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, and on to a top speed of 310 km/h (192.6 mph). That is partly due to the massive power output and partly because at around 1,400 kg the Clubsport is not a heavy weight.
One could argue that in Audi TT Clubsport is kind of a hybrid, since it features electric turbochargers fed by 48?volt electrical sub-system and a compact lithium-ion battery located in the glove compartment. Audi says this system is more efficient than conventional turbocharging, but its reliability in the real world is yet to be tested.
Other highlights of the TT Clubsport include an awesome wide body kit, coilover suspension, big brakes and large 20-inch wheels. The car also benefits from Matrix LED headlights and a racing cabin with bucket seats, roll cage, and plenty of carbon and Alcantara.
