You have to forgive us for ripping off old man Hemingway for the title of this post because in some ways the Alfa Romeo 8C in these photos reminds us of the character in The Old Man and the Sea. Just look at it sitting there staring the sea in the face, braving the cruelties of a world that no longer pays any attention to it.
No, these days it is the young man, the carbon-thin Alfa 4C, that is the center of attention. Cars like Alfa Romeo 8C are there with the dinosaurs, what with their rubbish engineering, wasteful engines, and imprecise handling. No one cares anymore that the car looks like an angel fashioned from a single piece of ruby stone by a heavenly chisel. All right, maybe we’re getting a bit carried away.
