You know the name David Brown from his first and not so successful attempt at coachbuilding when he turned the old Jaguar XK into what he called Speedback GT. Now he is back with a new project, and this one seems a lot brighter since it is basically a restomod of the original MINI. They called it the MINI Remastered by David Brown Automotive, a reinterpretation of the British icon for the 21st century, blending modern features with classic looks.

Limited to 25 and available in standard as well as special ‘Inspired by Cafe Racers’ and ‘Inspired by Monte Carlo’ MINI Remastered by David Brown Automotive is a true work of art as far as craftsmanship and design are concerned. They had to sort of blend in the modern features they knew the modern customer wants – such as  Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a four-speaker sound system, keyless-go, USB connectivity and charging, as well as push-button start and remote central locking – into the classic design of dashboard, and they seem to have pulled it off beautifully.

The highlights of the MINI Remastered inside the cabin include bespoke sculpted seats with a hand-trimmed interior swathed in British-sourced hides, retro Smiths dials, a David Brown Automotive engraved Moto-Lita steering wheel with enhanced driving position, and the addition of a cup holder to the centre console. Each car comes with a fully reconditioned 1275cc engine and re-engineered gearbox from the original MINI, upgraded up to 50 percent in power by Brown. And as for the paint and trims, these are completely bespoke to the individual buyer.

MINI Remastered will make world debut at Top Marques Monaco show, taking place from 20th – 23rd April in the Grimaldi Forum, Monte Carlo.
