Polestar Performance, Volvo’s partner in touring car championship series is going to unveil their firs production car and based on the first details they’ve released, it is quite hot! The car is of course based on a Volvo, the C30 to be precise, but the powertrain they have in mind for it is not Volvo-ish at all!

Called the C30 Performance Concept Prototype for now, the car is going to be powered by a 400 hp engine, and will be equipped with an AWD system which distributes the power intelligently between all four wheels. The aerodynamics of the car will be inspired by Polestar’s actual race car.

Unfortunately that’s all they have revealed so far, but it’s set for debut at Gothenburg Motor Show between 22-25 April, so stay tuned!

“We love the Volvo C30 – it’s a great car with huge potential for development with its low weight and low centre of gravity. It’s also a fantastic road car. But now we go much further by combining the road car with cutting edge racing technology,” says Robert Dahlgren, race and development driver at Polestar.

“It’s particularly inspiring to develop this specific C30. This car is built just in the way we want to do it. Polestar has probably spent more time than anyone else in the world to get speed out of the C30, and this time we can realize ideas without being halted by specific race regulations,” says Jan Andersson, technical director at Polestar Racing.
