As promised during the Goodwood Fos, Alpina revealed their latest creation based on the 2011 5-Series. So if you can’t wait until the new M5 arrives, you can now order this car. Mind you it’s not as powerful and as delicate as the real M5, but it will do! Alpina B5 gets BMW’s twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8, which is tuned to 500 hp.
So with 500 HP and 516 lb-ft of torque, the B5 is a real athlete capable of doing 0 to 62 mph in 4.7 seconds and top speed of 191 mph. A big part of this great performance is owed to the new and absolutely brilliant 8-speed ZF gearbox. They say that this engine can do 21.7 mpg, which is good for a car with this level of performance.
Alpina B5 gets the usual treatment including a unique body kit consisting of a chin spoiler, side skirts, rear diffuser and a massive rear wing, and of course Alpina signature wheels. Although the interior is also garnished with new classy accents, Alpina instrument cluster, floor mats and badges, but the 5er’s interior design is boring and it’s hard to improve it!
So there you go, you can choose this or the M5. It’s a matter of taste.
