Murano crosscabriolet at New Rendering: Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet

Nissan’s dream about making a drop-top SUV is finally becoming reality, apparently, as they have confirmed it will be unveiled at this year’s L.A. Auto show as the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet. Here’s a new rendering of how the car would look like, based on the new facelifted model. And while it’s kinda cool with the roof down, we’re not sure it’ll be just as cool with it up!

Obviously the roof is going to be fabric, becasue a metal folding roof will be almost impossible to fit and it would look even more preposterous! The other issue that Nissan has spent many years trying to address is the ride and handling. As you know chopping the roof off a car, even a small hatchback, is not an easy task and you basically have to re-engineer the car’s structure to make sure it’s as rigid as the hard top.

So doing such thing with a big Crossover such as the Murano must have been pretty hard. The CrossCabriolet should not be that much heavier than normal model though, because while the structural works add a fair amount of weight, its big and heavy roof is gone too and that should kinda balance things out!
