Each year at their home motor show in Geneva Rinspeed come up with a very weird but equally fascinating concept car which seems pointless at first, but has a formidable idea behind it! After all, Rinspeed has a reputation as the maker of the craziest cars in the world. For 2011 Geneva show they have prepared this, the Rinspeed BamBoo.

Rinspeed describes this concept car as a grown-up golf cart. The whole point of this car is simplicity and fun, but Rinspeed gets a bit carried away with it when they say: “It is a reminiscence of the Seventies, of the south of France and St. Tropez. And one would expect to find Brigitte Bardot behind the wheel with playboy Gunther Sachs at her side heading towards Tahiti beach!“.

As the name suggests many of the interior components are made from bamboo fibers, going with the whole lightness and simplicity theme. It also has an electric drivetrain, nothing fancy, just something that makes it move!

According to Rinspeed boss Frank M. Rinderknecht:

Anyone not blinded by horsepower orgies, chrome tinsel and top-speed frenzy should take a closer look. “BamBoo” pushes the ‘reset’ button, clears the mind for a new way of thinking. It sports simple, clean lines. No bells, no whistles.  Nothing is superfluous. Plain aesthetics in their purest form. As stated before and even in a figurative sense: Nomen est omen. Simply bamboo.
