Volvo V60 Achieves Five-Star Safety Rating

volvo v60 crash at Volvo V60 Achieves Five Star Safety Rating

EuroNCAP today announced crash test results for the Volvo V60 as well. And it’s passed with flying colors.

Obviously a Volvo estate is born as a five-star car, but the scored it has achieved in the tests are quite incredible. The full Euro NCAP crash test results for the Volvo V60 are:

Overall Score: 5-star
Adult Occupant Protection: 94%
Child Occupant Protection: 82%
Pedestrian Protection: 64%
Safety Assist rating: 100%

That is thanks to the great level of active and passive safety features. Standard safety systems on all Volvo V60 (and S60 saloon) models include DSTC (Dynamic Stability and Traction Control), dual stage driver and passenger airbags, SIPS (Side Impact Protection System), IC (Inflatable Curtain) and ABS brakes with Emergency Brake Assist. All models in the range also feature City Safety as standard – award-winning technology that can reduce or entirely avoid a rear end impact up to 19mph by automatically applying the brakes to bring the vehicle to a standstill if it senses a collision with the car in front and the driver hasn’t reacted.

They can also be specified with Pedestrian Detection technology which can stop the car in emergency circumstances. This system proved not very reliable since it totally failed in its press demos, twice!
