Citroen officially confirmed unveiling of a new DS model at the Beijing Auto Show. The new concept car, called the Numero 9, will mark the entrance of the DS lineup to the Chinese market, and also previews the new styling cues which will be used in the future DS models, including a C-segment premium sedan, an SUV and a D-segment executive saloon. So this is the Citroen DS9 we’ve been waiting for.

Featuring the sort of artistic and quirky design you’d expect from a DS Citroen, the Numero 9 is an ultra-stylish shooting brake with very nice details like the long bonnet, low profile, 21-inch wheels and frame-less windows.

It also showcases the new sculpted, 3D grille and the LED headlights that are the signatures of DS deign language. A sophisticated use of body colours and materials includes deep black bodywork with subtle hints of violet. The finish, named ‘Whisper’, is a perfect match for the warmer shade of the ‘Californian’ chrome finish.

Numero 9 is also a sohpisticated car underneath. The concept car coasts a hybrid powertrain consisting of an electric motor on the rear axle that develops 70hp and torque of 200Nm, coupled to a 1.6 liter THP petrol engine developing 225hp (165kW) and 275Nm of torque. The car is pretty fast for what it is, with a 0 to 62 mph time of 5.4 seconds. In full electric mode it has a range of 50km.
