High-Performance Nissan GT-R Nismo Confirmed

Nissan GT R Nismo 545x357 at High Performance Nissan GT R Nismo Confirmed

As reported earlier, Nissan’s tuning arm Nismo is now playing a bigger role as the Company’s performance brand and official motorsport team. Over the coming months they will be unveiling a number of new sporty Nissan road cars, chief among which is a high-performance version of the GT-R.

The GT-R is already fairly bonkers in terms of power and performance, so we can’t imagine what kind of treatment Nismo has in mind for it. They say it will be a Nissan GT-R for the racetrack, with more power and even less creature comfort than the existing Track Edition model.

Nismo has been part of Nissan GT-R’s racing program since it started, so they have an intimate knowledge of the car’s capabilities and how to boost it even further. So rest assured, the GT-R Nismo will be an amazing performer. But it will probably be the worst version of the car in terms of usability on the road. Let’s be honest even the standard GT-R is not that refined, let alone a track-prepped version.

“It would be unthinkable for us to develop a range of Nismo road cars without including the GT-R,” said Nissan CEO, Carlos Ghosn. “The standard road car is a global supercar and the GT-R’s performance on track reflects the passion and talents of the Nismo team. The GT-R Nismo will be special and I can’t wait to drive it.”
