This past weekend Maserati took over Virginia International Raceway for the fourth round of their Trofeo World Series. One of the biggest highlights of the event was the presence of a absolutely unique and important race car from the company’s glorious heritage collection, the Maserati MC12 GT1.

The black beauty was unleashed on the track for a few laps to flex its muscles and get some fresh air. Realizing what a rare and exciting opportunity this is, all the cameras present at the venue were set on record and aimed at this car:

Maserati MC12 GT1 Corsa is the racing version of the MC12 supercar, itself based on the Ferrari Enzo. The racing car was a lot more successful than the road-going version mainly because the MC12 was developed as a race car in the first place. The street version was only built to comply with the rules of GT racing. These days both road and racing MC12s are among the most desirable, and most expensive, collectible cars.
