If this weird but wonderful design looks familiar to you, that is because you have already seen it on an official BMW art car, an M3 GT2 designed years ago by Jeff Koons. Now the guys at Metro Wrapz have recreated this design on a BMW i8, and we have to say this one looks a lot better.

Koons described the design of his BMW art car back then as a simulation of the power of the car, a design that “incorporates many bright contrasting colors to communicate the aesthetics of power.” On the BMW i8 Jeff Koons Tribute the lines could be interpreted as an attempt at visualization of the car’s electric hearts, busily shifting their output between the wheels and the gasoline engine to make the i8 the world’s sexiest hybrid.

We are not sure how BMW and Mr Koons feel about Metro Wrapz recreating their design independently, but we are fairly certain they are going to like the end result.
