The press preview day of the 2016 Essen Motor show saw the debut of the new CarbonFiber Dynamics BMW M4R featuring an elaborate M livery and, well, a roof box. But don’t let that stuff fool you into thinking this car’s a softie. The M4R is actually one of the most vicious tuned M4s out there.

With 700 horsepower on the tap, coming from a heavily revised straight-six turbo engine with TTE 6XX turbochargers as well custom downpipes and intakes and software and pretty much any other performance part you can think of, CarbonFiber Dynamics BMW M4R can challenge most of today’s super cars and potentially hold its own against them.

It’s a good job, then, that the tuner has fitted the car with powerful MOVIT brakes and Bilstein electronic suspension. After all, it ain’t easy containing that many horses. What we don’t understand is why they went ahead and pretty much ruin the aerodynamics of the car, especially after installing a cool 3DDesign aero kit, with a 56°Nord roof box. The idea behind this, and the whole inspiration behind this project apparently, was Jon Olsson’s custom supercars which also have a roof box.

We will bring you more on CarbonFiber Dynamics BMW M4R as it goes on public display at Essen.
