Nissan is going to put the NV200 concept showed at the Geneva Motor Show, into production and here’s the first official sketches of the actual car which will debut in Japan in 2010. It’s a full electric vehicle and will almost certainly use the same power train as in the Leaf hatchback, which will be launched in the market in 2010. This commercial van also uses some of the Leaf’s styling cues, the shape of the front bumper and the headlights are very similar to its hatchback brother. Maybe it’s the face of all Nissan’s electric vehicles.
“The low-cost multi-purpose vehicle would allow ambulance drivers to drive directly into the hospital or van and taxi drivers to enter urban areas where CO2 emissions are restricted. The van is one of four electric vehicles Nissan has announced for the future. At the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show, Carlos Ghosn, president and CEO of Nissan, said LEAF – the world’s first mass market affordable EV – will be launched in Japan and the US in late 2010, Europe in 2011 with global mass-marketing efforts to begin in 2012.”
