Toyota is really kicking its green car business into high gear as they’ve announced they want to expand the market with a range of new plug-in hybrids (PHVs) and battery electrics (BEVs) and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCHVs). So as a taster, at 2010 NAIAS they are showing the FT-CH Hybrid concept, which is considered as a discount version of the Prius!

The FT-CH is actually 22 inches shorter and also narrower so it should have better aerodynamics. Toyota says that the small size has not affected passenger comfort inside the vehicle.

It was styled at Toyota’s European Design and Development (ED²) center in Nice, France, and they incredibly managed to create something even uglier than the Prius!

Although Toyota has not released any info on the FT-CH’s powertrain, but they talk about quite seriously. They are actually considering it for production. Oh boy!
