The new kit from electronics experts at Unichip is a plug and play ECU that upgrades all VW 2.0-litre 140 TDI variants produced between 2004-2008, including the Golf, Jetta, Passat and Touran. Revised ECU settings of the Unichip kit will increase the output of the VW powertrain by 19 bhp and 24 lb.ft of torque, while the fuel consumption remains unchanged.

What’s more Unichip says it is ‘invisible’ to VW main dealers and cannot be detected or overwritten during servicing, and can only be changed by their own dealers. The performance gain will result in sharper, livelier and more willing engine, but as mentioned the fuel economy which this 2.0 liter TDi is renowned for won’t be affected.
