Looks like Kia is very serious about expanding their lineup. Yesterday we had a report on a new MX-5 fighter by the Korean car maker, and today news emerges about a new flagship sedan dubbed K9.
The new rear-wheel-drive V8-powered sedan is Kia equivalent of Hyundai Genesis, but as Kia officials have confirmed they want to kinda solidify the brand, setting it apart form the sister company. Although the car will be basically a Hyundai underneath, powered by the same TAU V8 as the Genesis, but it will get a unique styling inline with the other new Kia models.
Although the two-seater sports roadster is being engineered as a European car, the K9 is not likely to make it into the green continent. Kia is apparently not yet ready to take on the big European boys in the luxury sedan segment and would rather focus on the lower classes for now. That’s probably why they didn’t offer the Cerato Koup in that market, it was a great car but not exactly delicious for the European taste.
The car will be offered in America though.
