Nismo LEAF RC, the racing version of the LEAF electric vehicle will make its first public demo at the upcoming 2011 Le Mans 24hr race.
Well, not at the actual race, but at LE MANS VERS LE FUTUR, a support for the main event on June 11-12. Two demonstration runs by the Nissan LEAF NISMO RC are scheduled: – the first at 21:15 on Thursday, June 9th and the second at 12:10 on Saturday, June 11th local time.
This is the closest an EV has ever got a major motorsport event, besides Fisker Karma’s demo at Monaco F1 Grand Prix. The Nissan LEAF NISMO RC, the first-ever zero emission racing spec production vehicle, was unveiled at the 2011 New York International Auto Show. Despite the amssive racing body kit and all, it is a standard LEAF underneath and not yet ready for an actual race as such.
