Audi Q3 Achieves Five-Star Safety Rating

The results of EuroNCAP’s first round of 2012 crash tests are in, and Audi has done great.

The new Audi Q3 small SUV has been awarded five-star rating, and declared the best in class in terms of safety.

That’s particularly depressing for Chrysler and Jeep, as NCAP announced their Compass – a small 4×4 like the Q3 – is only a two-star car, or a death trap, to put it simply.

It’s no wonder the Audi excelled in the tests, considering all the safety features crammed into it. It even has specially-designed front end that helps to mitigate the consequences of a collision and offers greater pedestrian protection. The Audi side assist system activates at speeds above 19mph to help drivers change lanes on motorways and dual carriageways. Then there’s the Audi active lane assist which becomes operational at speeds of 40mph. It also has a speed limit display.

The other car awarded with five golden stars is the A6 sedan. The A6 also features a number of active safety options, including the full range of Audi pre sense systems, lane assist, the head-up display, night vision assistant with pedestrian alert function, and Audi park assist. The adaptive light and high-beam assist systems are also available as options.
