2012 New York: Infiniti LE Electric Concept

These are the first pictures of Infiniti’s latest electric concept car, which is a sedan based on the Nissan LEAF platform. The designers have done their best to make sure it doesn’t look anything like the LEAF. They’ve taken cues from the other concept cars, namely the Essence, and force-fed them to the LEAF. So you get lots of weird lines and angles, which aren’t pretty at all. In fact, it looks like a bit of a mess.

This car will spawn a production model sometime in 2014, and by then they will probably have come up with a better design.

The LE concept is said to be powered by the same powertrain as the LEAF,which means it has a 108 hp electric motor. Given the fact that a sedan is heavier than a hatchback, the range of this concept should be worse than the car on which it’s based. This being an Infiniti, a posh and plush version of Nissan, they will probably boost that up a bit in the final production version.

Official details of the car will be released soon.
