At the next week’s Beijing Auto Show Audi will unveil a concept car based on the Q3 to gauge the interest in a hotted-up version of this crossover. Dubbed the RS Q3, the concept car features a dynamic body kit, sport, lowered suspension, big wheels, and the 2.5 liter TFSI engine of of the TT-RS with 360 PS. Sounds pretty awesome, on paper.
The standard Q3 is widely regarded as one of the most boring cars in this fun segment. The RS tries to address that issue by offering more dramatic looks, vivid performance, and better driving dynamics.
On the downside, you lose some of the ground clearance, some of the already limited off-road capabilities. The concept car sits 25 mm lower than the standard Q3 and rides on 8.5 J x 20-inch rims wrapped in 255/30 tires. These will give the RS Q3 the much needed traction to cope with that furious engine’s performance. It takes the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 265 km/h (164.66 mph).
On the outside the RS Q3’s blue exterior is complemented with a carbon fiber body kit consisting of a front spoiler, side sills, rear diffuser and side mirrors. The same theme with black leather and blue Alcantara continues inside on the roofliner, floor carpet, floor mats, leather-upholstered instrument panel and on large areas of the seat upholstery. It also gets aluminum and carbon fiber accents.
No words yet on the RS’ chance of production, but the upcoming Chinese event shall reveal more.
