These patent drawings leaked onto the web are believed to belong to the new Maserati Quattroporte due next year as a 2014 model. These drawings have strong resemblance to the most recent spyshots of the car. But we’re not 100 percent sure, because as we know Maserati is working on a smaller sedan than the QP, and these pictures could be for that car.

We do hope these patents are not for the Quattroporte. After the classic design of the current-gen QP, this design looks a bit, well, ordinary! The bold front grille and the bumper seem to have remained intact, but there are new headlights, and they look kinda like those of the Maserati Kubang SUV. Around at the back, changes have been more drastic, but again, it kinda lacks drama and emotion.

It looks sort of obvious, and that is not cool. The current Quattroporte has a strangeness in its design that makes it so interesting.
