This lovely lady you see here is Miss Yamaha 2012 and Monster Energy Girl Andrea Friedrich who just got her A-license as a Rennfahre or race driver. To start her career in VLN, GLP and similar racing series, she had her Mk5 Golf GTI tuned by BBM Motorsport. And they’ve done a solid job turning that little hot hatch into a proper racing car.
First off, BBM tweaked the four-cylinder turbo engine using a K04 turbocharger kit from Audi S3, and also fitted SuperSprint high performance exhaust system. Double-DIN charge air cooler and a sport clutch by ZF / Sachs Motorsport are also provided. The result of all that is a huge bump in power from the standard 200 hp and 280 Nm, to 336 hp and 460 Nm of torque.
Then they needed to make sure the car stays in check in spite of the added power. So they fitted it with a set of TEC-rims by ASA – size 8×18-inch with semi-slick tires in 225/40-18 tires – as well as KW coilover suspension, and crucially Stoptech brake system 355 x 32 mm discs and 4-Piston Calipers.
Because she’s a novice race driver and quite accident-prone, the tuner also fitted a Wiechers safety cage, racing bucket seats and safety harness. Finally, thy wrapped the whole thing in a baby blue foil by Bruxsafol.
Performance-wise, Andrea’s Golf goes form zero to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, and hits a top speed of 275 km/h.
