World’s fastest man Usain Bolt visits Japan to expand its relationship with Nissan, which started out as a simple sponsorship deal, by making a limited edition of the Nissan GTR. Before doing that though, Bolt and Nissan prepare a one-off gold GTR which will be auctioned on eBay later this month to benefit the Usain Bolt Foundation.
Details of the Bolt GTR are yet to be revealed, but seeing as Bolt and GTR are both built around speed, it is not going to disappoint. Usain has already been round Suzuka race track in Japan with mark Webber at the wheel of different GTRs. He wants to make an even more exciting version.
In fact, Nissan has appointed Bolt their new “Director of Excitement”. Not sure what his job description is, but it sounds very cool. Limited Bolt Edition GTRs will be available throughout the world.
Bolt said: “Racing is my inspiration, and I want to help Nissan become an even more exciting brand for everyone.”
Toshiyuki Shiga, Chief Operating Officer, welcomed Bolt’s endorsement and deepening ties with Nissan. “Nissan shares the spirit of excitement that captivated worldwide audiences at the Olympics. There is no-one better qualified than Usain Bolt to help us translate that spirit into great experiences,” said Shiga.
