This is the production version of the Golf R Cabriolet, revealed as a concept back in 2011 Worthersee event. Golf R is a powerful and fast hot hatch, but it is a bit too dignified and serious – which makes it less fun than other similarly powered hot hatches in the market. The Cabrio version will hopefully address the issue. Drop-top cars, after all, are about fun and joy of driving.

Features of VW Golf R Cabrio include a 270 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque four-cylinder turbo engine, lowered ride height by 25 mm via a sport chassis, 17-inch brake system and 19-inch “Talladega” alloy wheels with size 235 tyres, motorsport shell seats in dark blue carbon leather, combined with high-end Nappa leather in “Pure Grey”, plus sand-blasted aluminium door sill plates with black piano paint inlays.
Performance-wise, it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in under six seconds and reaches a limited top speed of 250 km/h.
