Dacia hits the UK market with yet another “most affordable in class” car. It’s the new Dacia Logan MCV – that stands for Maximum Capacity Vehicle – offering a 573-litre boot for just £6,995. It’s the cheapest new estate car in Britain, and surprisingly, it’s not competently horrible.

Yes, the 7 grand car comes with pretty much nothing, expect a big boot, but even the most loaded one with stuff like seven-inch touchscreen MediaNav, leather upholstery and rear parking sensors, will cost you £10,795. That is still pretty good value. Oh, and that 537-litre boot, that is expandable to 1,518 litres once you fold the rear seats.

The Logan MCV is available in three trim levels of Access, Ambiance and Lauréate. It also has a lineup of economical petrol and diesel engines, including the 1.2 16V 75, the frugal 0.9 TCe 90, and the 1.5 dCi 90. All engines do 48 mpg or better, and emit 135 g/km CO2 or less. The most economical unit is the 1.5 dCi which does 74 mpg and emits 99 g/km.
