In an effort to enhance the looks of the Mercedes SLK and making it more sporty, Expression Motorsport has come up with a very thorough wide body kit. It doesn’t make the car particularly prettier, not that you can blame the kit, but the wide body treatment does make the car look more macho.

You see, the problem with this generation of the SLK is that in their quest to make the the car look more ‘manly’ Mercedes designers got a bit carried away and ended up with something unbelievably bland. The previous generation SLK R171 with its F1-inspited noise and sexy back was a design classic. This is not. In a few years nobody will ever remember it.

Expression’s styling kit consists of a new R style front bumper, a pair of sporty side skirts, wide Body rear bumper with carbon diffuser, a sizable rear spoiler, 8-piece fender flares, LED lights, fog lights and dual exhaust pipes.

It is a nice kit. But to be honest you are better off with a clean R171 SLK 55 AMG. That’s cooler, prettier, and a lot more fun. You may even be able to save a few grands.
