The annual Life Ball event is upon us, and that means a new MINI concept car designed by a famous person to raise awareness, and funds, to fight AIDS. Unveiled at the event’s Magenta Carpet, this year’s MINI is a Paceman styled by fashion guru Roberto Cavalli, who drove it onto the stage himself.
Cavalli has come up with a pretty unique design for the 2013 Life Ball MINI without going completely ‘oobatz’. Highlights of his creation include gold elements inside and out, iridescent paintwork that shimmers from black to brown depending on the angle of light and the use of his hallmark animal prints. The car is certainly an attention grabber, but not ridiculous, like most of the previous models were.
MINI has been a partner of the Life Ball event since 2001, over which time they have helped raise more than half a million for the Campaign. Cavalli’s MINI was auctioned a few hours prior to its debut and sold for a record 150,000 euros.
Among the other internationally renowned designers that worked with MINI and Life Ball in previous years we can mention Dean and Dan Caten of DSQUARED², Renzo Rosso for Diesel and Donatella Versace. The event also brought together numerous celebrities, including Sir Elton John, Hilary Swank, Melanie Griffith, Barbara Eden (“I Dream of Jeannie”), Carmen Electra, Bill Clinton, Anna Netrebko, Erwin Schrott and Fergie
