Tesla is gradually coming to grips with the sort of market the Model S should be targeted at. So first they ditched the entry-level model, because nobody wanted it, and now they are adding a Performance Plus version, because there seems to be a high demand for a faster, sportier version of the electric sedan.
Available as a $6,500 package for new cars, the Performance Plus for Model S promises supercar-like handling with lowered ride height, larger wheels, fatter tires, as well as upgraded dampers, bushings and stabilizer bars.
But all the focus on performance will have no negative effect on the car’s range. In fact, the Performance Plus can manage six to twelve miles more than the standard Model S.
Existing Model S owners can also get the Performance Plus package, but it’ll cost them $13,000 and it does not include the suspension tuning. Apparently Tesla can’t be bothered with all that mechanical work.
