Toyota Motor Corporation recently sold its 5 millionth hybrid vehicle. That is cumulative sales of Lexus and Toyota hybrids, and a very significant milestone that cements TMC’s position at the top of green motoring industry. It all began in 1997 when Toyota announced the “Coaster Hybrid EV” in August in Japan and launched the “Prius”—the world’s first mass-produced hybrid passenger vehicle—in December. Now they offer a hybrid version of almost their entire lineup.

As of March 2013, TMC has sold 5.125 million. The current range includes 19 hybrid passenger car models and one plug-in hybrid model in approximately 80 countries and regions around the world, and between now and December 2015, they will launch a total of 18 new hybrid vehicles worldwide and is committed to augmenting its product lineup even further and increasing the number of countries and regions where it sells hybrid vehicles.
