The Nissan Micra has always been an odd little kid with special talents. It always offered great features and value for money, but it’s never been very likeable. Now there is a new version coming with a bold exterior design and a refined interior, and Nissan is hoping it can finally find some friends.
Lavish equipment, at least for its class, has always been the Micra’s biggest strength. So let’s see what the new model is bringing to the table. For starters, it comes with a new center console, upgraded materials, higher equipment levels and USB connectivity, as well as NissanConnect navigation and communication system, complete with an 5.8-inch touchscreen display.
The base Visia model (£9,950) features six airbags, Bluetooth phone integration, electric front windows, remote central locking. The mid-range Acenta (£11,550) adds alloy wheels, leather steering wheel with audio controls, climate control and cruise control, while range-topping Tekna (£12,950) gets NissanConnect navigation, Parking Slot Measurement, rear parking sensors and Intelligent Key with engine start button.
As for the engines, the new Micra can be had with either a 1.2-litre 80 PS unit or a 1.2-litre Supercharged DIG-S with 98 PS. They are both hooked to a manual gearbox, while a CVT transmission is also available.
