Mercedes tuner VATH got hold of a Shooting Brake Mercedes CLS 63 AMG and went berserk with its engine. The car is a serious piece of kit in its standard factory form with more than 550 horsepower. But once VATH is through with it, it becomes a complete lunatic.
I mean what else can you call a estate car with a boot big enough for two bicycles, space for five adults inside, and a staggering 850 horsepower output? It is of the hook crazy. That amount of horsepower teamed up with 1,180 nm of torque enables this family wagon to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds dead, and takes it to a limited top speed of 350 km/h.
The engine treatment, which costs 46,172 Euros, includes a pair of new turbochargers, a bespoke cool air intake system designed by VATH, bespoke exhaust system with downpipes and special silencers, and tailor-made ECU software.
You can just get the engine package, but it is highly recommended to spend a little bit more and let VATH also tune the suspension and brake systems, and adjust other systems such as oil cooler and air condition as well to cope with the performance of the tricked-out motor. You should also get the aerodynamic body kit with front splitter and rear diffuser that help you stay on the ground at high speed.
You could, however, skip the interior mods that include fine leather, Alcantara and carbon fiber. It is nice, but that engine is such an all-consuming element that you won’t notice anything else about the rest of the car. Plus, the interior bits are bloody expensive!
