ABT Sportline announced a new version of their tuning kit for the latest Volkswagen Beetle. The big Bug gets a number of styling updates, while all the engines benefit from a thorough performance boost. The chassis and suspension are also tweaked a bit.
Let’s start with the styling, where ABT VW Beetle gets a new aerodynamic kit including front spoiler, rear skirt and panels, head and taillight covers, and 2-pipe mufflers connected to an ABT sport exhaust system. You also get also a set of ABT CR, DR and ER-C in 18 to 20 inches.
As for the suspension, the tuner has used sport lowered suspension that drop the ride height by as much as 30mm. That complements the new braking system, consisting of 345 x 30 mm discs at the front, to give the car better drivability.
The engine treatment begins with the 2.0 TSI unit, which gets a mere 40 PS upgrade to 240 PS and 340 Nm thanks to an ABT power module. The same kit on the 1.4 liter TSI unit results in a more significant boost, upping the power from 160 PS to 210 PS with 280 Nm of torque. Then we have the 1.2 liter TSI that is upgraded from 104 PS to 140 PS with 220 Nm, the 2.0 liter TDI diesel that gets a bump from 140 PS to 170 PS with 370 Nm, and finally the 1.6 liter TDI upgraded from 105 PS to 125 PS and boasting 285 Nm of torque.
